Ponmudi

An idyllic hill station, Ponmudi, is located at a distance of 61 km from Thiruvananthapuram. It's situated at 915 metres above sea level has a deer park and excellent trekking trails. Wild orchids grow profusely on the hillsides embroidered with winding, wooded paths. The climate is always pleasant and it serves as a base for trekking and hiking. The tea-gardens here are also famous. Other attractions near Ponmudi include Golden Valley and a number of rivulets and rapids, some even across the road. There is also a rich wildlife around these hills.

Munnar

It is located at a distance of 60 km from Idukki. Situated at the confluence of three mountain streams, 1600 metres above sea level, this hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. Sprawling tea plantations, pristine valleys, exotic species of flora and fauna and spice scented cool air make this a popular resort town. Munnar also has the highest peak in South India - Anamudi - which towers over 2695 metres and is an ideal spot for campers who like to do some trekking.

Peermedu

This place situated at a distance of 35 km from Thekkady in Idukki is a famous plantation town, takes its name from Peer Mohammed, a Sufi saint and close associate of the erstwhile Royal Family of Travancore. Along with the tea and coffee plantations here, few other Kerala specialties like pepper, cardamom, rubber and eucalyptus are found here. The plantations are interspersed with silver cascades, sculptural rocks, meadows and mist-laden hilltops make Peermedu a must see holiday location.

Nelliyampathy

This fascinating hill station located at a distance of 75 km southeast of Palakkad can be reached by traversing 23 hairpin curves has several vantage view points including KesavanPara and Seethargundu. The dense and verdant forests harbour exotic wildlife. The cool hills of Nelliampathy, nestling atop the Western Ghats, offer a breathtaking view of the misty mountains and enchanting valleys. The hills of Nelliyampathy are also well known for its orange cultivation

Vythiri

Situated in Wayanad district, Vythiri is about 60 km from Kozhikode. Tucked away at the northeastern tip of Kerala, this quaint little hill station about 1300 meters above sea level is renowned for its coffee, tea, cardamom, pepper and rubber plantations. Vythiri hill station has a renowned wildlife sanctuary and the serene ambience is sometimes interrupted by the resonating sound of wild animals and birds. Mist-capped mountains and breathtaking scenery dominate other tourist attractions.
